VOICE WORK AND ACAPELLA SINGING WORKSHOP
With ROZ WALKER and KATE HOWARD

FEBRUARY 25th 2012 10.-4.30pm
South Devon Rudolf Steiner School, TOTNES, SOUTH DEVON
Morning 10-1 : SINGING SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES, EXPLORATION OF THE VOICE AND DEVELOPMENT OF VOCAL STYLES.
Afternoon 2-4.30 : CLOSE HARMONY SINGING -TRADITIONAL SONGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND AMERICA.
A workshop to develop and strengthen vocal skills; learn about the anatomy of the voice, how to protect it, and how to use it efficiently and expressively. There will be opportunities to practice close harmony work in small groups and trios, and to work on blending with other keen singers, as well as a chance to learn and enjoy some fabulous traditional unaccompanied songs.

I also offer day and half day sessions in schools and work places, teaching ‘World Music’ through singing and/or percussion workshops, with people of all ages, such as:
- Sessions to support curriculum areas, eg: Religious Studies, History or Cultural activities.
- Teacher Training for students or teachers in harmony singing as a teambuilding experience.
- Teacher training in leading singing workshops.
- World Music through singing for Primary or Secondary schools.
- Sessions can include song writing and vocal development.
- Special groups catered for.
- One-to-One sessions in voice work and public speaking.
My experience is wide, having led a large school choir (up to 100 teenagers) for 9 years, and worked as music teacher in local Primary schools in Diptford and Salcombe, teaching all classes.

Other teaching experience includes: Junkband, Community Arts work projects, parent and baby groups, African dance and percussion, teacher training work, ice-breaking sessions for conferences, and workshops for English learners,(I hold a TEFL Diploma). I have also run teacher training weekend courses for prospective choir leaders and teachers in leadership skills.
I am a member of DAISI (Devon Arts In schools Initiative) and the NVPN, (Natural Voice Practitioners Network). I hold a current CRB certificate.
